Wrapping up California

I finally understand what City and Color meant when they said “Why’s everyone still singing about California? Haven’t we heard enough about the Golden State?” Because at this point I’m pretty over it. Don’t get me wrong, there are beautiful parts of California that I’ve seen over the past month and we’ll get to that in a second but I’m in desperate need of a change of scenery. Maybe its because we do a lot of traveling in the dark or maybe its because I’m not brave enough to venture out too far but either way, I’m excited to see what else this tour has to offer.

In Sacramento we had THE BEST location yet.IMG_5745 IMG_5735.jpgEarly in the week we had our Halloween party! It was so fun seeing everyones creativity/ alter egos come out for the night. Not only were we fortunate enough to be walking distance from the venue this week but also from Old Sacramento! Turning left out of the hotel we headed to the venue which was relatively new. Looking out from the frozen stage, towards the audience, the seats just kept going upwards, the amount of tiers of seats almost seemed infinite.

IMG_5805 Take a right turn and go under the freeway through a artistically painted walkway and you were in Old Sacramento. The only way I could describe Old Sacramento would be to say it has a “Classic Western Charm”. The raised wooden sidewalks, cobblestone streets and two or three story buildings that look straight out of a Wild West Film. It felt like the kind of city you could relax in which was nice considering we had to keep our guard up so much these past few weeks.

Facetune_01-11-2018-11-48-36.jpgBefore my exciting show weekend began I was fortunate enough to visit the Sacramento Temple! By the end of the week I was also able to visit the River Park Ward in Sacramento for the Fast and Testimony meeting. I felt prompted to share my own Testimony so I did and felt the Spirit guiding my every word. In that moment I knew Heavenly Father was using me as a tool to strengthen someone else’s Testimony as well. Testimonies aren’t just meant for Church, we as Latter-day Saints can’t forget that we share our testimonies with others by actively living the Gospel that Christ intended for us. Practice what you preach pals, that will continually be enough to make an impact on the people around us.

7 Sacramento Shows and we were off to Bakersfield

IMG_3043.jpgBakersfield is well… dirt. IMG_6067.JPGI don’t mean to say that metaphorically but I mean we are actually in a ghost town of closed stores, business men and dirt. Some of the cast and crew went to LA but I took advantage of catching up on some rest, writing, organization of receipts and emails. Some pretty exhilarating stuff, I know. Once everyone got back from LA we went into ‘Downtown Bakersfield’ which was pretty vacant except for a really dope thrift store  Throwback Junction and  Cafe Smitten.

I was able to go to church AGAIN in Bakersfield which was miraculous in itself being two weeks in a row! I love being in different cities every week and having the gospel be the same no matter what.

Only 6 Shows in Bakersfield (thank goodness) and we are officially out of California !!

Scripture-  1 Nephi 10:18-19 “For he is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him. For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.’

Song- Golden State – City and Colour

P.S. California hasn’t had rain in over 100 days and there are hundreds of people being evacuated due to wildfires, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
